Roles and Responsibilities:

Position : Country Support Officer

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Information management of British Red Cross-supported projects with the Nepal Red Cross Society on BRC's computerised Programme Information Management System (PIMS), ensuring adherence to Programme Cycle Management (PCM) methodology.
• Ensuring effective reporting for institutional donors by monitoring, reviewing and editing partner reports and tailoring to donor templates and requirements.
• Assisting the Programme Manager in compiling project documentation such as concept notes, assessment summaries, logframes, risk registers, donor proposals and reports.
• Supporting the Programme Manager to prepare, edit and finalise internal monthly and quarterly updates and quarterly, biannual and annual donor reports.
• Supporting the Programme Manager and Finance Delegate to produce, monitor and maintain accurate financial programme budgets and coordinate financial reports and donor cash requests for programmes with corresponding narrative reports.
• Facilitating approval processes, agreements and transfers as per BRC's computerised Grant Management system.
Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent professional communications skills (English and Nepali), in particular strong English language writing and editing.
• Ability to analyse numerous source documents, identify key information and summaries important messages.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a proactive approach towards problem solving and willing to take initiative.

Position 1:  Programme Manager – Livelihoods (Kathmandu based with frequent field visits)

  • Good knowledge of Nepal's health situation and understanding of the national health system;
  • Work in a multi-cultural setting;
  • Project management experience is desirable;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in proposal writing and project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting;
  • Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English.
Health, including HIV and AIDS, is another key technical areas of the UMN's work. It focuses on lasting positive change in the health of the Poorest People Living in Poverty. The Programme Manager will report to the Health Team Leader and will take responsibility for the overall management of UMN's HIV and AIDS programme as well as contribute to other health projects of UMN. S/he will ensure technical excellence, efficient and effective project management, and give strong technical assistance to the Health Programme Officers in UMN's field offices.

To this end, ZFD works in coordination with a number of stakeholders to help build their capacities in dialogue. ZFD Nepal is looking for a local peace advisor to help support local partners.
Position : Peace Advisor
Duty Station : Kathmandu with frequent travels to other districts (mainly Terai)
Duration : 18 months with possibility of extension

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical support to partners in conflict transformation and dialogue project work.
  • Conduct ongoing research and do regular analysis with partners to support current dialogue work and explore further opportunities in the region.
  • Design and conduct trainings in conflict transformation and dialogue facilitation.
  • Develop and strengthen networks of peace actors at the district and regional levels.
  • Maintain communication and relationships with partners and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project strategy and activity planning and overall project management.
  • Monitor project progress and write regular reports.
  • Ensure that all ZFD-supported conflict transformation and dialogue activities of partners are in compliance with ZFD strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate with other ZFD agencies and their partners.
  • Assist with Nepali-English translation and interpretation.
  • Perform further tasks as defined during project planning and carry out other responsibilities as required.
  • Closely work with the international peace adviser in all areas of work.
Required qualifications and experience:
  • Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, or a relevant degree with coursework in peace and conflict.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the field of conflict transformation. local peace structures and dialogue.
  • Experience and skill in designing and conducting trainings on dialogue facilitation and conflict transformation and in holding workshops with various stakeholders.
  • Experience designing peace building interventions, writing proposals and fulfilling reporting requirements. Experience in project management and working with multiple partners will be an advantage.
  • Experience in working with Local Peace Committees, political actors and other stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of Terai and eastern hill contexts including work experience in these regions. Knowledge of local Terai and eastern hill languages will be an advantage.
  • Solid command of English and Nepali language with translation experience.
  • Strong aptitude for research and analysis including experience in conflict analysis.
  • Strong self-initiative and structured working style.
  • Ability to critically assess project design and integrate lessons learned.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and professional presentation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain impartiality when working with actors holding a variety of political affiliations.
  • High level of commitment to non-violent peace and conflict work.
