Vacancy at “United Mission" kathmandu 2015-03-18

United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organization which strives to address root causes of poverty leading towards fullness of life, as it serves the people of Nepal. Multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in remote districts of the country, building partnerships that lead to healthy, dignified and empowered individuals, families, and communities.
Position 1:  Programme Manager – Livelihoods (Kathmandu based with frequent field visits)
Qualification and experience:
  • Master's Degree in Agriculture or any relevant field;
  • Proven experience of minimum three years in managing agricultural-based livelihood initiatives. Experience with cooperative promotion will be an added advantage;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of value chain and markets for the poor;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in proposal writing and project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting;
  • Good networking, facilitation, training, coaching and mentoring skills;
  • Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English.
Sustainable Livelihoods is one of UMN's key technical areas and focuses on long lasting improvements in the livelihoods of families in remote rural communities, through strengthening local partner organisations. The Programme Manager will provide efficient and effective project management; ensure technical excellence; and give strong technical assistance to the Livelihood Programme Officers in UMN's field offices.

Position 2: Programme Manager- HIV and AIDS (Kathmandu based with frequent field visits)
Qualification and experience:
Master's Degree in Public Health or equivalent;
  • At least 3-5 years working experience in public or community health programmes in governmental or nongovernmental organisations;
  • Good knowledge of Nepal's health situation and understanding of the national health system;
  • Work in a multi-cultural setting;
  • Project management experience is desirable;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in proposal writing and project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting;
  • Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English.
Health, including HIV and AIDS, is another key technical areas of the UMN's work. It focuses on lasting positive change in the health of the Poorest People Living in Poverty. The Programme Manager will report to the Health Team Leader and will take responsibility for the overall management of UMN's HIV and AIDS programme as well as contribute to other health projects of UMN. S/he will ensure technical excellence, efficient and effective project management, and give strong technical assistance to the Health Programme Officers in UMN's field offices.
Salaries and benefits will be according to the UMN Standard.
